744 footpath encroachments cleared in two months
A total 744 footpath encroachments have been removed as part of the Operation ROPE (Removal of Obstructive Parking and Encroachments) conducted by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in conjunction with the traffic police, since December last year.
The GHMC, through a press note, informed that the drives have been conducted with the aim of easing traffic congestion and reclaiming pedestrian spaces in the city.
Temporary encroachments which are found objectionable on footpaths or which are projected onto the road portion causing inconvenience to the public are being removed with police assistance, it said.
Footpaths were cleared in Rajendranagar, Falaknuma, Malakpet, Qutbullahpur, Santoshnagar, Karwan, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills, Alwal, Mehdipatnam, Musheerabad, Khairatabad, Uppal, Amberpet, Serilingampally, Chandanagar, and Moosapet.
