Seventy-three persons were injured in jallikattu organised at Navalur Kuttapattu in Tiruchi district and Mandaiyur and Vadavalam villages in Pudukottai district on Saturday.

A total of 711 bulls were released at the event held at Navalur Kuttapattu, in which 333 tamers participated. Thirty-three people were injured, of whom 12 were referred to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital here. The remaining persons were treated as outpatients at the event venue.
Ten persons sustained injuries in a jallikattu held at Mandaiyur village. As many as 681 bulls were released into the arena during the six-hour-long event, with the number of tamers taking part being 120. Two among the injured were tamers; seven bull owners, and a spectator. Two persons were referred to the government hospital at Pudukottai while the rest were treated as outpatients at the event venue, the police sources added.
Thirty persons were injured in the jallikattu organised at Vadavalam village. As many as 580 bulls were released, with 300 tamers participating. Ten, including two bull tamers, three bull owners, and five spectators, were referred to the government hospital at Pudukottai while the remaining 20 were treated as out-patients at the event venue.
