24 young musicians leave audience spell bound with their performance

Yuva Mahotsav showcases young vocalists and instrumentalists in a national music competition judged by industry professionals.
Twelve each young vocalists and instrumentalists from across the country left audience spell bound with their performance on the first day of the two-day ‘Yuva Mahotsav’ at the Don Bosco Hall in Mangaluru on Saturday, February 8.
The 15-minute performance by each of the musicians was the final round of the national music competition organised by Sangeet Bharati Foundation. The toppers in the vocalist and instrumental categories will be performing on Sunday after receiving awards from the foundation.
The first to perform on Saturday was vocalist Vibha Hegde from Yellapur in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. It was followed by performances of Abhaysingh Chandrakant Waghchaure from Pune and Tanishq Arora from Amritsar, Punjab. Siddharth Pulleri, a native of Kasaragod, who is in Kolkata for music training, overcame pain in his leg due to an accident to present a soulful composition. Kolkata singers Ishan Ghosh and Ritam Ganguly continued the tempo with their performances.
Singers Shree Gouri M. Joshi from Davangere, Saniya Dhanaji Mungare from Kolhapur, Mitra Bhattacharyya from Kolkata, Samrajni Banerjee from North 24 Parganas of West Bengal, Pinak Saurabh Sapre of Pune and B.G. Sumith Kumar of Honnavar in Uttara Kannada, made good use of the limited time to present different facets of singing talent.
The first performance in the instrumental category was that of Guramrit Singh of Amritsar, who played Israj instrument. This was followed by violin recital by Mumbai’s Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Sakshi Sheolikar of Bhopal (Mohan Veena), Aditya Abhijit Deshpande of Pune (Sitar), V. Karthik Bharadwaja of Rajpur (Violin), Vasant Ashok Goankar of Tiswadi in Goa (Harmonium), Madhav Kalra of New Delhi (Sarod), Banani Das of Taherpur in West Bengal (Santoor), Panemangaluru Karthik Bhat of Mangaluru (Flute), Arjun Anand of Bengaluru (Sitar), Bhargavi Girish Sarade of Pune (Sitar) and Goutham Hebbar of Bengaluru (Flute)
Bansuri player Pandit Ronu Majumdar, vocalists Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, Vidhushi Poornima Bhat Kulkarni and Shashank Maktedar, sitarist Ustad Rafique Khan and tabla player Yashwant Vaishnav acted as judges.
There will be master class by Ustad Rafique Khan and vocalists Shashank Maktedar, Vidhushi Poornima Bhat Kulkarni on Sunday morning. Following award presentation, there will be Bansuri-vocal-sitar recital by the trio Pandit Ronu Mujumdar, Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi, and Ustad Rafiq Khan on Sunday evening.
