22 Telangana districts record temperatures above 40°C, Asifabad hottest at 42.4°C

Telangana heatwave intensifies with 22 districts exceeding 40°C, Asifabad records highest temperature at 42.4°C. IMD issues alert.

With the ongoing heatwave intensifying across Telangana, 22 out of the State’s 33 districts have recorded maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C, according to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS). Asifabad registered the highest temperature at 42.4°C, making it the hottest location in the State.

Several other places also witnessed soaring temperatures, with Neradigonda in Adilabad, Mandamarri in Mancherial, and Veernapalle in Rajanna Sircilla recording 41.5°C. Chinnambavi in Wanaparthy reported 41.3°C, while Bijinapally in Nagarkurnool registered 41.2°C. Gollapalle in Jagtial recorded 41.1°C, and Bejjanki in Siddipet saw a high of 41°C. Fourteen other districts reported temperatures ranging between 40°C and 41°C, highlighting the severity of the heatwave.

The capital city, Hyderabad, also felt the impact of the rising mercury. Asif Nagar in Hyderabad and Keesara in Medchal Malkajgiri recorded a maximum temperature of 39.6°C.

In response to the extreme weather, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow heatwave alert for several districts, including Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, and Peddapalli. The warning is in effect for Sunday, March 16, as temperatures are expected to remain high.
