The prosecution said that S. Sheik Sadam Hussain, 24, of Marapalam, who was a daily wage worker, trespassed into the house of a 16-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her on March 14, 2021.
On April 14, 2021, he kidnapped the girl, confined her to a house, and sexually assaulted her again.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the All Women Police Station in Erode, which registered a case under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, as well as for kidnapping and trespassing. He was arrested and lodged in prison.
Judge C. Sornakumar sentenced him to 20 years of imprisonment for sexual assault and six months for trespassing. A fine of ₹6,000 was imposed on him. The judge ordered the sentences to run concurrently. He was then lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
