Water till the last acre, assures Komatireddy
Hyderabad
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said that the lining and repair work of Alimineti Madhav Reddy Project (AMRP) main canals and distributaries will be taken up at ₹1,000 crore.
Mr. Reddy, on Sunday, inspected the irrigation water situation at the Mailasamudram lake near the Kanagal mandal centre, which falls within the AMRP ayacut. He said out of 2.20 lakh acres under AMRP, about 2.15 lakh acres have been brought under cultivation.
The Minister assured that water would be provided till the last acre until the harvest and farmers need not worry. He urged them not to dig ditches in canals or install motors so that water reaches the last acre. The Minister said that cultivation in the district increased by one lakh acres this year and more paddy is expected.

Model primary schools should not undermine existing institutions, caution UTF leaders. Calling for due diligence while introducing reforms, they say that upper primary schools, with a strength of above 60, should either be upgraded into high schools or be allowed to continue in their present form. Inordinate delay in payment of dues to employees and teachers a cause for concern, they say.
