Water level in Papanasam dam on Tuesday stood at 88.85 feet (maximum permissible level 143 feet). The dam had an inflow of 291.68 cusecs and 604.75 cusecs of water was discharged. The level in Manimuthar dam stood at 80.86 feet (118 feet). The dam had an inflow of 117.92 cusecs and 275 cusecs of water was discharged.
More than 2.6 lakh village and ward volunteers in Andhra Pradesh, once celebrated as the government’s grassroots champions for their crucial role in implementing welfare schemes, are now in a dilemma after learning that their tenure has not been renewed after August 2023 even though they have been paid honoraria till June 2024.
