Visakhapatnam woman wins gold medal in Gita recitation
Jyothi Chaganti of Visakhapatnam has won a gold medal in recitation of Gita in an exam conducted by Sri Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Mysore, at the Datta Ashram, on April 2. The award was presented to Ms. Jyothi by Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swami at Dindigul in Hyderabad.
Ms. Jyothi spoke of her enriching experience of learning the Bhagavad Gita though the “Gita Makarandam” group led by Ms. Nagalakshmi and others in spreading the essence of Gita.
The teacher in the group motivates and trains the students in accurate pronunciation spends time out of their domestic exigencies and makes the candidates fit for the exam taken by the Veda Pandits of the Peetham, that would not have been possible without the relentless efforts of the faculty and administration.
Reciting all the 701 Slokas spread in 18 chapters of this Sacred Book was a great opportunity given by Lord Krishna and it was a brilliant experience to take part in this exam, says Ms. Jyothi. Being a gold medalist, Ms Jyothi has now assumed the role of a faculty in the same group, committed to preaching Gita to the next students.
Gita for sure personifies individuals and helps in application of ‘Karma Siddhantha’ in day-to-day life. Although it was hard to take time out of the daily routines being a homemaker, she appeals to all groups and of all ages, especially the housewives, to take advantage of the online platforms that facilitates joining class from anywhere with flexible timeslots and start a new journey of life to learn Gita.

At Risen Christ Church on April 13, this observance marking the beginning of the Holy Week will accommodate a blood donation camp.
