
Eminent tabla artist Omkar Gulvadi to be felicitated

Sapthaka Bengaluru, Chiranthana Charitable Trust Surathkal and Sri Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaluru, will felicitate eminent tabla artist Pandith Omkar Gulvadi on his 80th birthday on Sunday, April 13, in Mangaluru.
Trust Managing Director Bharavi Deraje told reporters here on Friday that the programme begins with a Sitar-Bansuri Jugalbandi by Ankush Nayak and Karthk Bhat respectively from 5 p.m. at the Mutt premises in Mangaladevi.
Eminent Hindustani vocalist Pandith Venkatesh Kumar presides the felicitation programme of Mr. Gulvadi, who hails from Mangaluru. Institutions striving to spread classical music in Mangaluru, including Sangeeth Bharathi Foundation, Swarananda Pratishthana, Surabhi, Kala Sadhana, Academy of Hindustani Music, Abhinava Swarashala, Dhyan Sangeeth Academy, Narayani Sangeetha Kalakendra, Kala Coast and Max Media would honour the Tabla artist on the occasion.
Pt. Kumar would render his concert after the felicitation programme, Mr. Deraje said.
