Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy highlights Vemana's relevance, calls for youth to embrace his ideas at Jayanti celebration.
Recalling Vemana’s contributions to society’s positive transformation, Ballari City MLA Nara Bharath Reddy has said that his ideas are relevant even today and called upon the young generation to study and follow the saint-poet’s thoughts.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 613th Vemana Jayanti celebrations at Joladarashi Doddanagouda Rangamandir in Ballari on Sunday.
The event was organised by the district administration, the Zilla Panchayat, the Kannada and Culture Department and the Ballari City Corporation.
“The Reddy community is economically strong. The community members have a noble quality of extending their helping hand to the needy. They are known for their charity and assistance to the economically weaker sections of society. Just as other communities, the Reddy community has also played a crucial role in developing my political career,” Mr. Reddy said.
Pointing to the long-pending demand of naming Talur Road after the great saint [Vemana], Mr. Reddy said that the proposal has already been discussed in the Ballari City Corporation’s general body meeting and the demand will be realised shortly.
“Our government is committed to ensuring the development of the Reddy community, just as it is for the other communities in the State. Reddy community students from rural areas, especially girls, are facing problems when they don’t get hostel facilities in the city. I will bring it to the government’s notice and take steps to build a hostel meant for Reddy community girls in the city. The construction of the Reddy community hall is in the final stage and the building will shortly be opened for public use,” Mr. Reddy said.
Mayor Mallangi Nandeesh said that Vemana’s Vachana compositions contain progressive thoughts and will be helpful to the positive transformation of society.
