While participating in the CISF Day at the newly named Rajaditya Chola Recruits Training Centre in Thakkolam, he said that recruitment examinations for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) were conducted in Tamil and other languages listed in the 8th Schedule.
He said the Tamil language, heritage, and culture were gems in the crown of India.
The Union Minister said the training centre had been named after Rajaditya Chola to honour his valour and sacrifice.
Rajaditya, the Chola prince, was killed in a battle with the Rashtrakudas in Thakkolam. An arrow pierced through his chest while he was riding an elephant and he earned the title Yanaimel Thunjiya Devar.
