District Collector urges students to join higher education, emphasizing career guidance and opportunities for further studies.
District Collector R. Brindha Devi on Sunday urged students, who are completing school, to compulsorily join higher education.
The Collector participated in the career guidance programme En Kalloori Kanavu at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College conducted on behalf of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department.
At the function, Ms. Brindha Devi said career guidance programmes were conducted for plus one and plus two students to improve awareness among them on courses with job opportunities and to increase the percentage of students joining higher education. Educationists were guiding students on what and where to join for higher studies after their schooling. The students should choose the college where the courses they wanted to study were available. In government education institutions, discounts on fees were given to students, the Collector added.
Around 1,200 plus one and plus two students participated and experts from the Education Department interacted with the students and cleared their doubts on higher education.
