Union Minister promotes skill upgradation for street food vendors, emphasizing public health and supporting small traders across India.
Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Prataprao Jadhav has stated that the government is conducting skill upgradation programmes for street food vendors, with an emphasis on public health.
At the one-day training programme conducted for food business operators and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) on Sunday, December 29, under the aegis of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), he highlighted the motto of the ‘Project Clean Street Food’ initiative and stressed the importance of ensuring public health while encouraging local food vendors and small traders.
Of the 100 street food hubs planned across India, four will be established in Andhra Pradesh: Tirupati, Kadapa, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. Mr. Jadhav encouraged small-time food vendors to register online to get support under the Atmanirbhar Bharat project and take the self-employment route to development.
The Minister later interacted with the trainees and learned about the problems they faced at the ground level.
The event will run daily from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., offering a variety of activities. Visitors can enjoy dance and music performances, hands-on art experiences, film screenings, and exhibitions from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. These will feature folk cuisines, leather puppets, philately, textiles, and handicrafts.
