Six residents of a townhome on Linden Drive have been displaced after a fire early Monday morning, Cambridge Fire says.
Two of the residents told CTV News they woke up around 4 a.m. to smoke so thick, they couldn’t see more than a foot in front of them.
All of the residents are Conestoga College students. Cambridge Fire says it will take several months before anyone can move back into the home. Fire damage to the roof is extensive and will require an engineering assessment, Cambridge Fire said.
For the next three days, the students are being put up in a hotel by the Red Cross. After that, they'll have to find another place to stay.
A Cambridge fire investigator is on scene to determine the cause and circumstances of the fire.
