The rapper swiftly deleted the image after Bernice King called her out on social media.
Sexyy Red has apologized to one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s four children after reposting an AI-modified image of the civil rights leader.
While the world honored Dr. King on his annual holiday on Monday, the “Bow Bow Bow” rapper, 26, celebrated the day by posting an altered photo of herself and Dr. King on X, formerly Twitter.
In the since-deleted image, the pair seemingly held hands as they gazed into each other’s eyes in what appeared to be a club setting.
Shortly after, Dr. King’s youngest child, daughter Bernice Albertine King, slammed the musician (real name Janae Nierah Wherry) for “dishonoring” her father by sharing the “disrespectful” photo.
“This is intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful to my family and my father, who is not here to respond himself because he was assassinated for working for your civil and human rights and to end war and poverty,” King wrote on X.
