Hindi film celebrities pay last respects to veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of Ayan Mukerji, at funeral in Mumbai.
Hindi film celebrities on Friday (March 14) paid their last respects to veteran actor Deb Mukherjee. The father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, Deb Mukherjee passed away at 83 due to age-related issues.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, stars of Brahmastra, rushed back to Mumbai from Ailbaug to attend the funeral. Ranbir was later photographed playing the role of a pallbearer at the gathering.
Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan was among the first to arrive to pay her respects. She was seen hugging and consoling Kajol, who had lost her uncle.
Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Lalit Pandit, and Kiran Rao also arrived to pay their respects.
The funeral took place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai.
Born in Kanpur, Deb Mukherjee was part of the famous Mukherjee-Samarth family, whose involvement with the film industry spans four generations, beginning in the 1930s. His mother, Satidevi, was the only sister of Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. His brothers included successful actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, who married Bollywood star Tanuja. His nieces are Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
He worked in movies like Sambandh, Adhikar, Zindagi Zindagi, Haiwan, Mai Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Karate, Baaton Baaton Mein, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, and others.
