Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to visit Mumbai, meet labourers and entrepreneurs in Dharavi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will be on a private visit to Mumbai on Thursday (March 6, 2025) where he will meet the labourers and small and medium entrepreneurs from the leather industry in Dharavi. He will land in Mumbai at 11:10 a.m., and will be in the city till Friday (March 7, 2025) morning, Congress said.
The visit is important on the background of the Congress’ consistent opposition to the Dharavi redevelopment project being handed over to Adani Group.
According to Rahul Gandhi’s schedule, he will take off from Delhi at 9 a.m. and will land in Mumbai at 11:10 a.m. He will stay in the city for the night, and will leave for Ahmedabad on Friday morning.
Mr. Gandhi will visit Brand Chamar studio in Dharavi. Asia’s largest slum is world-renowned for its leather industry. Thousands of leather manufacturing units operate in Dharavi. “He will interact with the labourers, try and understand their issues. He will also interact with the entrepreneurs there,” a Congress source said, adding that the State Congress leaders have been instructed to stay away from the private programme.
His schedule thereafter is unclear, but some party sources indicated that he might meet the party leaders in the evening in Mumbai.
