Prasun Dey, prime suspect in Tangra triple murder, arrested by Kolkata Police after questioning at hospital and home.
Prasun Dey, one of the prime suspects in the Tangra triple murder case was arrested late on Monday (March 3, 2025) night by the Kolkata Police. He was questioned for several hours after being released from hospital.
Prasun Dey (45) and his older brother Pranay Dey (48), were being treated at the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata under police watch.
Mr. Prasun Dey was released from the hospital and taken to the Tangra Police Station near his home for questioning. According to police sources there are discrepancies in his statement.
The Kolkata Police had previously recorded their statements, but are waiting to get clearance from medical teams to start detailed questioning.
The murders came to light on February 19 when the brothers crashed their car into a pillar along the Eastern Metropolitan bypass in an attempt to kill themselves. They sustained serious injuries and were under treatment for their injuries.
The brothers revealed to police that there were three dead bodies in their residence at Tangra. Police rushed there and recovered the bodies. On February 20, an autopsy confirmed that it was murder.
On February 25, the police said they were convinced that no outsiders were involved in the crime.
