Tamil Nadu Police engage autorickshaws to promote cybercrime helpline '1930' for quick action and victim support.
In a bid to popularise the helpline number ‘1930’, the Cyber Crime Wing of the Tamil Nadu Police have engaged autorickshaws.
According to a press release, the police got in touch 16 autorickshaw associations, which have a membership of about 10,000 vehicles. With the increasing use of computers, cybercrime had become a major issue. The associations had agreed to carry the sticker containing the cybercrime helpline contact details on their vehicles.
The role of autorickshaws in promoting awareness could be quite significant due to their widespread presence and visibility in urban and rural areas.
“Of late, cybercrimes are escalating rapidly, causing significant financial losses to victims due to delays in reporting complaints through the helpline number ‘1930’. It is crucial to popularise the use of the number to ensure quick action and save victims’ time,” the release said. The awareness campaign was launched by Sandeep Mittal, Additional Director General of Police, Cyber Crime Wing.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), probing the death of contractor, Sachin Panchal, who allegedly ended his life in Bidar on December 26 last year, arrested five persons, including the prime accused Rajkumar Kapnoor, a former member of the Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike, and reportedly a follower of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Priyank Kharge, on Friday.
