Private bus accident injures over 20 passengers, plunging into 'nullah' in Punjab; rescue operation launched amid inclement weather.
Over 20 passengers were injured when a private bus met with an accident over a bridge and plunged a few feet down below into a 'nullah' on Friday, police said.
The accident occurred when the bus was en rote Bhatinda from Talwandi Sabo. Locals rushed to the spot immediately to help the people get out of the bus, the officials said.
Police and district administration also launched a rescue operation and took the injured to a hospital, they added.
The weather was inclement in the area, the officials said.
But in a case against ruling party MLA Vinay Kulkarni accused of rape and abduction, where the investigation is still underway, all the rest of the cases against former chief minister B. S. Yediyurappa, then MP from Hassan Prajwal Revanna, his brother MLC Suraj Revanna, his father H. D. Revanna and former minister and MLA Munirathna have been chargesheeted, by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in the same year. All the cases are being probed by teams led by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) B. K. Singh.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) that took over the probe into the case arrested two key terror accused Abdul Matheen Taaha and Mussavir Hussain Shazib, both hailing from Thirthahalli, from the outskirts of Kolkata in April. CCTV footage from the restaurant and its surroundings confirmed that Shazib was the one who planted the IED.
