State government condemns attack on MPDO, promises strict action against perpetrators; officials assure advanced medical care for victim.
The State government has taken serious note of the attack on a Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) Jawahar Babu, of Gali Veedu in Annamayya district, and assured stringent action against the perpetrators.
The assault, at the Mandal Parishad Office, was carried out by YSRCP leader Sudarshan Reddy and his associates, alleged Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development K. Pawan Kalyan in a statement on Friday.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan condemned the attack and assured that such violent and unruly acts would be stringently punished by the government. He instructed officials to ensure that the MPDO is given advanced medical care and directed the Commissioner of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development to submit a detailed report on the incident.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan, who is scheduled to visit Kadapa on Saturday, said he would personally visit Mr. Jawahar Babu at RIMS Hospital to offer support and encouragement to him and his family. The Deputy Chief Minister emphasised that the attackers showed a lack of respect for democracy and the Constitution, and their punishment would send a strong message against such behaviour.
Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu also condemned the attack, stating that lawlessness would not be tolerated by the current government. He warned that any repetition of such incidents, reminiscent of the previous regime’s high-handedness, would result in severe consequences.
The government’s response underscores its commitment to safeguarding officials on duty and maintaining democratic principles in public administration, Mr. Atchannaidu said.
