DMDK leader praises Tamil Nadu budget, hopes for proper implementation to benefit people, supports infrastructure development, and opposes corruption allegations.
Hailing the Tamil Nadu budget, Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) leader Premalatha on Sunday said that many of the announcements were actually the wishes of party founder and her late husband Vijayakanth.
Speaking to media persons in Palani, where she attended a party functionary’s function, she said the budget contained many good initiatives. If the government implemented them properly and in a transparent manner, the people would benefit. Announcements on building infrastructure facilities such as Metro Rail and Global City would go a long way.
On the agriculture budget, she said that way back in 2006, the DMDK founder had mentioned about the need to take the progressive farmers to developed countries in groups and educate them about the techniques and nuances. “ I am satisfied that the government has now made this announcement and wished that farmers’ benefitted,” she added.
The raid on the TASMAC office by the Directorate of Enforcement officials cannot be directly taken as corruption. The officials have to publicly reveal the modus operandi to allegedly siphon off the money. Already, the Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji had remained inside the prisons. Hence, the allegations should be proved by the authorities.
While the DMDK would oppose tooth and nail against the delimitation exercise, if it affected the interest of the State, she clarified that there was nothing wrong in learning more languages and that she was for three language format.
