Madras High Court takes up rare suo motu revision against acquittal of Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy in 2006 disproportionate assets case. Justice N. Anand Venkatesh to hear petition on Aug 10, 2023. Vellore Principal District Court acquitted Minister and wife on June 28. DVAC prosecuted case in Villupuram, later transferred to Vellore.
In what is considered a rare action, the Madras High Court has taken up a suo motu revision against the acquittal of Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy from a disproportionate assets case by a trial court on June 28.
Justice N. Anand Venkatesh is slated to hear the revision petition on Thursday, August 10, 2023. Vellore Principal District Court had acquitted the Minister and his wife on June 28 this year from the case booked in 2006.
Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption had prosecuted the Minister before a court in the Minister’s home district Villupuram but it was later transferred to Vellore.
The event will run daily from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m., offering a variety of activities. Visitors can enjoy dance and music performances, hands-on art experiences, film screenings, and exhibitions from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. These will feature folk cuisines, leather puppets, philately, textiles, and handicrafts.
