Krishna Jayasankar became the new record-holder in indoor shot put among the Indian women.
Krishna Jayasankar became the new record-holder in indoor shot put among the Indian women. The 22-year-old, studying in USA, heaved the iron ball to a distance of 16.03m in the Mountain West Indoor track and field championship in Albuquerque (New Mexico) on Saturday.
Krishna bettered the previous Indian indoor best of 15.54m set by her countrymate Poornarao Rane in 2023 in Birmingham, USA. In her effort, Krishna finished third behind Mya Lensar (19.02m) and Gabby Morns (17.09m).
Krishna has now been selected to take part in the NCAA indoor championships to be held on March 14 and 15 in Virginia Beach.
