The timetable to operate Kochi metro trains has been temporarily revised, in view of the fall in ridership during the past one week owing to the pandemic situation and subsequent restrictions. Thus, trains will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the frequency of a train every 10 minutes during peak hours and at 14-minute frequency during non-peak hours, during weekdays (Monday to Friday). On Saturday and Sunday, the trains will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every 15 minutes, during both peak and non-peak hours, Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) informed.More than 2.6 lakh village and ward volunteers in Andhra Pradesh, once celebrated as the government’s grassroots champions for their crucial role in implementing welfare schemes, are now in a dilemma after learning that their tenure has not been renewed after August 2023 even though they have been paid honoraria till June 2024. Disowned by both YSRCP, which was in power when they were appointed, and the current ruling TDP, which made a poll promise to double their pay, these former volunteers are ruing the day they signed up for the role which they don’t know if even still exists
