Karnataka Deputy CM Shivakumar opposes delimitation of Lok Sabha seats, vows Congress will fight against it.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar alleged on Sunday (March 2, 2025) that the Union Government’s move towards delimitation of Parliamentary constituencies is aimed at reducing the Lok Sabha seats of southern States. “The Congress will fight against it,” he said.
Speaking to press persons at Mangaluru International Airport on his way to Udupi, Mr. Shivakumar said the Congress opposes delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. “It is not correct. Congress will fight against it through Election Commission and court,” he said.
Later, he spoke at the Brahmakalashotsava celebrations of new Marigudi Temple at Kaup, near Udupi. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the temple had been renovated without any grant from the government.
He said that all should bow their heads before humanity and all should protect their respective religions. Mr. Shivakumar said that no religion has preached to “disturb” people of other religions. All should live cordially.

Stressing the need to maintain coordination with the alliance partner, BJP, on the floor of the House, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel and Janata Dal (S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy on Sunday told legislators to question the government on the improper implementation of guarantees and the taxes being raised to fund them.
