Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan recovering after multiple stab wounds in attempted robbery, wife confirms family's safety.
Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering after sustaining multiple stab wounds during an attempted robbery at his Bandra West residence in Mumbai in the early hours of January 16. The actor, who was attacked around 2:30 a.m., was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery.
Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife, addressed the situation through a statement released by her team, confirming the family’s safety.
The couple’s children, 8-year-old Taimur and 4-year-old Jeh, were unharmed during the incident.
Dr. Jalil Parkar of Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Saif was stabbed six times, with two deep wounds, one dangerously close to his spine. A specialized team, led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, performed the surgery. “Saif is now recovering and under observation,” Dr. Parkar added.
Mumbai Police and the Crime Branch have launched an investigation to identify the intruder. While the motive behind the robbery remains unclear, initial reports suggest a violent confrontation led to Saif’s injuries.
Kareena Kapoor’s social media activity from the previous evening indicates she may not have been home at the time of the attack, as she was attending a dinner with sister Karisma Kapoor and friends Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor.

It was a serendipitous discovery for historian Janaki Nair when she came across a report about the general strike of mine workers at KGF in The Hindu newspaper dated April 6, 1930, the same day Gandhiji broke the salt law. Nair, who has extensively researched and written about the general strike of 1930 at KGF, recently spoke at the Bangalore International Centre (BIC) as part of a series of lectures on subaltern struggles in the princely state of Mysore.
