Amnah Nababi's brace and Moussa Zouwairatou's goal lead Sethu FC to a 3-1 victory over Odisha FC.
Ugandan forward Amnah Nababi’s brace and her Cameroonian partner Moussa Zouwairatou’s strike in the first half itself, helped Sethu FC beat Odisha FC 3-1 in the Indian Women’s League at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium here on Thursday.
With this win, Sethu has climbed to third from sixth on the league table. Odisha has slumped from fifth to sixth.
Nababi, who scored off a rebound from Odisha goalkeeper Anshika in the seventh minute, scored a spectacular goal from well outside the box in the 13th minute. Her shot found the top-right corner of the net as the goalkeeper was merely reduced to watching it sail in.
Speaking after the match, Odisha head coach Crispin Chettri lambasted his team for its lack of intent.
“We didn’t have the desire and hunger, whereas they wanted to win the match. We didn’t want to run the extra mile. We didn’t want to go for tackles. To be honest, we were pathetic,” he said.
The result: Sethu FC 3 (Amnah Nababi 7, 13, Moussa Zouwairatou 41) bt Odisha FC 1 (Lynda Kom 96).
