
HackToFuture hackathon witnesses over 2,000 aspiring innovators

HackToFuture 2021: 36-hour hackathon with 2,000 participants, 4 themes, and ₹2.4 lakh in prizes, organized by SJEC.
The third edition of HackToFuture, a 36-hour national-level hackathon organised by St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Vamanjoor from Monday to Wednesday saw participation by over 2,000 aspiring innovators from across 21 States.
The hackathon was organised in association with EGDK India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Denmark-based EG A/S. The problem statements were curated and provided by EGDK India, ensuring relevance to real-time industry demands. Participants received mentorship from experts from both EGDK India and EG A/S Denmark, while the final evaluations were carried out by a panel of industry professionals.
It had four key themes - Healthcare and Citizen Welfare, Industry and Trade, Construction and Workforce Management, and a Mystery Theme - challenging 44 shortlisted teams to solve real-world problems through technology. A total cash prize of ₹2.4 lakh was awarded to the top-performing teams.
EG India CFO Peter Kayser inaugurated the event while the valedictory function was attended by Denmark Counsul General and Head of Trade and Innovation Eske Bo Rosenberg. Mr. Rosenberg said, “We need young bright minds who work across disciplines and borders. This hackathon is a shining example of how teamwork can drive impactful change.”
Team CodeCrew from Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Yelahanka won in the Healthcare and Citizen Welfare category followed by team Alt+F4 from KLE Institute of Technology, Hubballi as as runner-up. In the Industry and Trade theme, team Numeronauts from Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering, Mangaluru, emerged first, followed by team Hackathon-Gcoeara from Government College of Engineering and Research, Avasari Khurd.
The Construction and Workforce Management theme was led by team Integrated Innovators from Cambridge Institute of Technology, Devanahalli with team Code Brigade from the same institution emerging as runner-up. The Mystery Theme saw team Tricharm from Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bengaluru, clinching the top spot.
Special recognitions included Team HogRiders from NITK Surathkal for Best UI/UX Design and Team HACK404, also from NITK, for Best GitHub Repository Structure.
