Telangana CM Revanth Reddy aims to develop Hyderabad into a global Life Sciences hub, focusing on innovation and investments.
Telangana Chief Minister A.Revanth Reddy reiterated the State government’s commitment to develop Hyderabad into one of the world’s best and largest ecosystems to support the growth of Life Sciences sector with an emphasis on promoting innovation, research and development and investments.
The Chief Minister, who inaugurated BioAsia 2025 in Hyderabad on Tuesday (February 25, 2025) , said this announcing that the State will come up with a one of its kind Life Sciences policy. As a measure aimed at enhancing connectivity, the landlocked Telangana will get a dry port with a dedicated rail, road linking it to a seaport in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, he said.
The proposed Life Sciences policy will chart a bold new growth trajectory for the sector. With this, the State seeks to enter new domains such as cell and gene therapy, genomics, biologics and precision medicine, peptides, digital innovation, advanced R&D and complex manufacturing.
Noting that he was keen on sharing his vision for the Life Sciences sector, Mr. Reddy said “we are developing pharma villages between the existing Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the proposed Regional Ring Road (RRR) .... hope to generate 5 lakh new jobs.”
The Green Pharmacy City the State government has conceived as a part of the proposed Future City project, near Hyderabad, is “progressing rapidly.” Some of the biggest pharmaceutical companies have signed up to set up facilities there, he told the well-attended inaugural session of the two-day event dedicated to Life Sciences and 22nd in the annual series.
The plan is to develop the area beyond the core urban limits of Hyderabad into “one of the worlds largest manufacturing hubs. I want to make it my offer to the world for its China plus one strategy,” he said, also reiterating the plan to transform the State into into $1 trillion economy.
