Rep. Virginia Foxx later withdrew her ask after Rep. Sean Casten cited Martin Luther King Jr. in his remarks.
Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) asked for Rep. Sean Casten’s (D-Ill.) words to be taken down after he took aim at “certain” white people on the House floor Wednesday.
“Madam speaker, I get it, competition is hard. It’s scary. Climate change is real,” said Casten, who slammed anti-ESG laws and criticized GOP lawmakers for backing a bill described as the “protecting Americans’ investments from woke policies” act.
“And no matter how nightmarish certain white folks of low character might find the realization of Martin Luther King’s dream, it is the only way we move forward as a society. In the name of free markets —”
Foxx then chimed in to request for Casten’s words to be taken down.
“On what basis?” Casten replied.
