Government plans industrial parks in Parvatipuram-Manyam district to boost economy, create jobs, support tribal entrepreneurs with incentives and subsidies.
The government was planning to establish at least one industrial park in each Assembly constituency of the Parvatipuram-Manyam district in order to improve economic activity and provide livelihood opportunities for local people, District Collector A. Shyam Prasad said on Friday.
A detailed action plan was submitted to the government, which was very keen to promote industrial activity in tribal areas too. Speaking to The Hindu here, he said that the industrial parks proposed in the four constituencies — Parvatipuram, Saluru, Kurupam and Palakonda — would help tribal people also as they would be able to supply their products to the companies concerned in future.
“We received several applications from entrepreneurs who are willing to set up agro-based industries in the district. Their proposals needed to be cleared by higher authorities and industrial promotion board,” said Mr. Shyam Prasad. According to him, the entrepreneurs would be given several concessions in power tariff, registration charges apart from civic amenities such as roads, electrical connections and others required for setting up of their industries.
The entrepreneurs from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes would get more benefits in the form of subsidies and interest waiver also as both Union and State governments had launched several schemes for their benefit. Non SC and ST entrepreneurs can also set up their industries in the mandals of those four constituencies that do not fall in Scheduled Agency areas. The district which was formed three years ago is hopeful that at it would be able to achieve Vision-2047 targets with rapid industrialization. Improvement of gross domestic product would also go up only with establishment of industries, the Collector said.
