A female leopard strayed into the house at around 6.30 a.m. and upon spotting the big cat, the residents, a couple and their son, ran out of the house and locked the main door. While the leopard remained trapped inside the house in a residential area in Jigani, which is located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, neighbours alerted the police and the department officials.
On confirming the leopard’s presence, the officials went into the house and captured it after tranquilising it. They later put the leopard in a cage and took it to the Bannerghatta National Park.
“We were successful in capturing the leopard which entered the house. The alert residents of the house managed get out and lock the door in the nick of time,” said Bengaluru South Division ACF V. Ganesh. He added that the leopard after straying into the residential area did not attack anyone and hid inside the house.
The leopard will be kept at the Bannerghatta National Park from where it will be released into the wild.
