Enforcement Directorate officer assaulted during money laundering raid at farmhouse in Delhi; suspect apprehended, case filed.
An Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer was allegedly assaulted on Thursday when an agency team raided a farmhouse in a cyber fraud-linked money laundering case in south-west Delhi’s Bijwasan area, the police said.
In a statement, the ED said the officer was injured in the incident, which took place when the agency team raided the farmhouse as part of a money laundering investigation against organised cybercrimes like phishing and QR code cheating. The farmhouse is owned by a chartered accountant, identified as Ashok Kumar.
The police said they have apprehended Mr. Kumar’s brother Yash for attacking the ED officer. A case under various BNS provisions, including Sections 121(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty), and 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) has been lodged.
