The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) achieved a significant milestone on Sunday with the commissioning of the 9.143-km Bacheli-Kirandul section doubling, authorised by Commissioner of Railway Safety (South Eastern Circle) Brijesh Kumar Mishra.
Accompanied by Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager; Gautam Srinivas, Chief Administrative Officer (Construction); K Dhanunjaya Rao, Chief Engineer (Track); Gourishankar Rao, Chief Engineer (Construction); Chief Electrical Engineer (Construction) Manjit Singh Sansanwal; Chief Signal and Telecom Engineer (Construction) K.S. Varma; and Deputy CRS Asutosh Kumar, the Commissioner of Railway Safety oversaw the comprehensive inspections and trials, crucial for operational safety and efficiency.
The inspections included track assessments on motor trolleys, evaluations of the Bacheli and Kirandul Railway stations, scrutiny of new signalling systems, and examination of the newly constructed bridges.
Further, speed trial was successfully conducted on the newly laid line, affirming readiness for operational deployment, said K. Saandeep, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager.
The completion of the doubling project in the Bacheli-Kirandul region of Chhattisgarh is a strategic advancement for the Waltair Division. This segment, challenged by security reasons, now boasts enhanced capacity to facilitate the smooth transit of iron ore from Bailadila Mines to various parts of the country. The upgraded infrastructure not only supports increased traffic demands but also fortifies connectivity crucial for regional economic growth.
