
Congress, CPI and BRS candidates to file nominations for Telangana MLC polls today

Candidates from Congress, BRS, and CPI to file nominations for MLC polls under MLA quota in Hyderabad, with elections on March 20.
Candidates from Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and Communist Party of India (CPI) would file nominations for the MLC polls, in Hyderabad on Monday (March 10, 2025). The polls for five vacancies in Telangana Legislative Council under MLA quota would be held on March 20.
The vacancies arises as tenure of five MLCs concludes at the end of March. The five MLCs are Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Mirza Riyaz ul Hasan, Seri Subhash Reddy and Yegge Mallesham, all four from BRS. The fifth MLC Mirza Riyaz ul Hasan is from the AIMIM.
Congress has nominated three candidates and allotted the fourth to its alliance partner CPI. Addanki Dayakar, Vijaya Shanti and Kethavath Shankar Naik were named as Congress candidates. CPI finalised Neelikanti Sathyam. BRS named Dasoju Sravan as its candidate.
Senior leaders from the respective parties are reaching the State Assembly for the filing of the nominations - which would be scrutinised on Tuesday. Nomination can be withdrawn till March 13, 2025.
