Container Hospitals are being established to find a solution to Doli problems: Collector Shyam Prasad

District Collector A. Shyam Prasad plans to establish more container hospitals for easy access to healthcare in remote tribal areas.
Parvatipuram-Manyam District Collector A. Shyam Prasad said that the administration has been keen to establish more container hospitals in strategic locations to ensure multi-purpose health support to tribal people living in remote areas. He said that the establishment of the container hospitals would minimise the burden of the tribals to bring patients, pregnant women in ‘Doli’ a makeshift arrangement to the hospitals located in Saluru, Parvatipuram and other places.
Speaking to The Hindu here, he said that the first Giri Arogya Kendras (Container Hospital) established a few months ago in Karadavalasa of Saluru mandal of the district got good response. People living in different tribal areas could get medical support from the doctors and other staff easily. “We are planning to establish two more container hospitals in Pedaguda of G.L.Puram and Porandanguda at Kurupam very shortly to ensure quick health support to the people living in remote areas,” said Mr. Shyam Prasad.
According to him, the doctors and staff in those container hospitals would also explain the importance of hygiene, nutrition, family planning and other welfare schemes. As they are designed with multi purpose requirements, self-help groups can organize their meetings. Adult education programmes can also be organized. “The expenditure is very little for the establishment of these Giri Arogya Kendras but the benefit is immense. Doctors, staff of various departments are also happy with the availability of space and facilities to extend the services to the needy people,” he added.
