Step-by-step guide for first-time voters in Delhi Assembly elections, including registration, polling booth location, and voting process.
Delhi is gearing up for the upcoming 70-member Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled to take place in a single phase on February 5, with the counting of votes set for February 8.
If you’re a first-time voter, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to cast your vote:
To exercise your franchise, the primary requirement is that your name must be included in the electoral roll (also known as the voter’s list). All citizens of India who are 18 years of age as of January 1st of the year in which the electoral roll is prepared are eligible to register as voters in the constituency where they typically reside. First-time voters can complete their registration through the Election Commission of India’s website.
Voters can go to https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in or use Voter Helpline App (Android) and Voter Helpline App (iOS) to find their polling booth.
Make sure to carry your Voter ID card or Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) or any other documentary proof as prescribed by the Election Commission of India.
When you reach the polling station, entry will be regulated by queues.
