CPI(M) to stage protest on March 25 seeking exclusive ITDA for Srikakulam district. The one at Sithampet has gone under the purview of the Parvatipuram-Manyam district, and an exclusive ITDA will help in reaching out to more than two lakh tribal people in the district, says party leader Govinda Rao.
CPI(M) Srikakulam district secretary D. Govinda Rao on Thursday said his party, in association with the Adivasi associations, will stage a protest on March 25 at the Collector’s office seeking establishment of an Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) exclusively for the district.
In a release, Mr. Govnda Rao said the Sithampet ITDA had gone under the purview of the Parvatipuram-Manyam district after formation of new districts three years ago. An exclusive ITDA for Srikakulam district was the need of the hour, as more than 2 lakh tribal people reside in various mandals, including Amadalavalasa, Sarubujjili, Saravakota, Meliyaputti, Mandasa, and Sompeta.
“The CPI(M) has been agitating for the last few weeks seeking an ITDA and marketing facilities for tribal products,” he said, and added that leaders of the party would submit a representation to the officials on March 25, explaining the issues of the tribal people.
