103 persons held and valuables worth ₹33 lakh seized in February, says Vizag Police Commissioner

Police Commissioner Bagchi reports 103 arrests for 73 property offenses, with ₹93.21 lakh recovered and 751 CCTV cameras installed.
The city police arrested 103 persons in February for their alleged involvement in 73 property offences, Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi told the media on Thursday.
The city reported 109 property offences in February. Special teams used technical methods while investigating those cases. Of the total, 73 cases were detected, he said.
Mr. Bagchi said that property worth ₹33.21 lakh was recovered in connection with these cases. Around 400 stolen mobile phones worth ₹60 lakh were also recovered, taking the total property recovered to around ₹93.21 lakh.
The Police Commissioner said of the 73 detected cases, three were related to robbery, three were house break-ins during the day, 15 were house break-ins at night, four cases of snatching, 13 cases of motorcycle thefts among others.
The recoveries include 660 grams of gold, around 2008 grams of silver, ₹2.73 lakh in cash, 14 motorcycles, two laptops and other valuables.
As part of the crime prevention measures, 751 CCTV cameras were installed at various places in the city in February. In total, 203 crime awareness meetings were conducted by the officers who sensitised the participants to the types of crimes, the importance of CCTV cameras, etc, he said, adding that special patrolling vehicles were being deployed in the crime-prone areas.
