A cultural feast brings down curtains on sports meet

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasizes the importance of respectful behavior in Assembly sessions for public welfare and development.
Use of foul language in the Assembly sessions had become so common until last year that people used to skip watching them or turn off their TVs, but now the ‘Kaurava Sabha’ has become a ‘Gaurava Sabha’, said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Participating in a cultural evening after the conclusion of two-day Legislators’ Sports Meet on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said the public only want their grievances to be addressed. “Using foul language in the Assembly might be a source of pleasure for the one saying it, but not for the public,” the Chief Minister said, recalling old times when all the members would greet each other with affection.
Mr. Naidu said the ruling and Opposition parties exist to work towards a common goal of development and welfare of the people, but not to engage in personal conflicts.
Talking about the sports meet held on March 18 and 19, the Chief Minister said if MLAs and MLCs enthusiastically participated in such programmes, there would not be any need for them to worry about their health. The Chief Minister joked that perhaps, they should reduce Budget for health and increase the same for sports and entertainment.
During the cultural evening, Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju performed a solo act. The Chief Minister said he was reminded of former Chief Minister and actor late N.T. Rama Rao. He also praised MLAs P. Vishnu Kumar Raju and J. Brahmananda Reddy for their performances.
Noting that he was entertained like never before in his life, the Chief Minister said such programmes should be organised more often. Later, the Chief Minister gave away to prizes to the winners of sports competitions. Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan, Legislative Assembly Speaker Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs participated in the cultural evening, which brought down curtains on the sports meet.
