None of the members had declared their assets as per legal requirements, sources said.
According to an officer in the office of the Regional Commissioner, fresh elections to the city corporation are likely.
While the members were elected in the 2022 civic elections, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor were elected in January 2024. Congress member Mehzabeen Horti was elected Mayor and Dinesh Halli as the Deputy Mayor.
In a recent judgment, the Kalaburagi bench of the Karnataka High Court had directed the State Government to act on violation of rules. The HC ruling followed a petition by former member Prakash Mirji Mainuddin that none of the members had complied with the rule to declare their assets after being elected.
