For most students, school textbooks are a source of learning, but for Class 10 student and poet K.V. Mesna, they have become a platform for recognition.
Her poem, ‘Kalam Thettiya Mazha ’, has been included as a lesson in the CBSE Class 7 Malayalam textbook ‘Madumozhi’, a milestone achievement for the young writer.
Prepared by the Malabar Education Research Centre (MERC), the textbook was officially released at Ponniam near Champad in the presence of Speaker A.N. Shamseer recently.
Expressing her happiness, Ms. Mesna said she never expected that there would be a day when children would read her poems in the textbook.
“It is a great recognition and an unexpected one,” she told The Hindu.
Ms. Mesna said the officials, who noticed her work and achievements, requested her to send some poems. She had sent four poems.
“The poem, which was selected, was written while I was studying in the sixth standard,” she said.
