The Kakinada-based shipbuilding company, San Marine, will demonstrate the potential for expansion of the shipbuilding industry on the Andhra Pradesh coast at the Singapore Maritime Week-2025. It commenced in Singapore on Monday.
The SMW-2025 is an annual flagship programme being held in Singapore under the aegis of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, bringing global maritime leaders together to share and demonstrate their technologies.
San Marine Director Sheik Ahmed Alisha told The Hindu, “San Marine is the only private shipbuilder in Andhra Pradesh, with a global presence in the maritime sector. We will share the role of the shipbuilding sector in the economic growth of Andhra Pradesh, technologies and employment potential at the SMW-2025”.
India, Singapore and the Netherlands are the leading nations participating in the SMW-2025. Indian Maritime University and Shipyard Association of India and Indian public representatives will represent India at the SMW-2025.
“Andhra Pradesh with the country’s third longest coastline will have the potential to be the destination for maritime trade and shipbuilding. Our success story in tug construction and cutting-edge technologies will be shared with all the stakeholders on March 26 at the SMW-2025”, said Mr. Ahmed Alisha.
