Widespread summer rain in four southern districts

Widespread rainfall in southern Tamil Nadu districts like Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Tenkasi reported by Regional Meteorological Centre.
The southern districts of Tamil Nadu such as Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi experienced widespread rainfall on Saturday.
The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai has predicted light to moderate rainfall across various places in Tamil Nadu due to prevalence of lower atmospheric circulation over south India.
Accordingly in Thoothukudi district, rain that began in the early hours of Saturday, flooded major areas and roads in the city. The rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending at 6 am on Saturday was (in mm), Thoothukudi 10.20, Srivaikuntam 3, Kulasekarapattinam 8, Sattankulam 29.20 and Kovilpatti recorded 4 mm rainfall.
In Tirunelveli district, continuous rain in the western ghats led to a ban on tourists bathing in Agasthiyar falls and Manimuthar falls. Various parts of the district experienced scattered rainfall throughout the day. The rainfall report till 4 p.m. on Saturday released by district administration (in mm) Ambasamudram 10, Cheranmahadevi 32, Manimuthar 17.20, Nanguneri 20, Palayamkottai 35, and Tirunelveli recorded 17.20 mm rainfall.
In Kanniyakumari, the western parts of the district and hilly areas such as Aarukani, Arumanai and Kulasekaram experienced light to moderate rainfall throughout the day. As of 6 a.m. on Saturday, the Thirparappu region received the highest rainfall in the district at 36.8 mm.
Similarly in Tenkasi, the Karuppanathi dam region received a rainfall of 3.50 mm by 4 p.m. according to the report released by the district administration.
