IMD warns of Cyclone Fengal remnants moving towards Arabian Sea, Kerala-Karnataka coasts with heavy rainfall alerts in place.
A well-marked low-pressure area, a remnant of Cyclone Fengal, currently situated over north interior Tamil Nadu, is likely to emerge over the Arabian Sea off north Kerala-Karnataka coasts by Tuesday (December 3, 2024), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday (December 2, 2024).
Five northern districts of Kerala – Kasaragod, Kannur, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad – continue to be on red alert on Monday for extremely heavy rainfall. Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Palakkad are on orange alert for the day for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The IMD has put Kannur and Kasaragod on orange alert on Tuesday, while Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram are on yellow alert for isolated heavy rainfall., according to a 1 p.m. update by IMD.
