
Vishwamanava Day to be celebrated at Kuppali on December 29

The Kannada and Culture Department, Shivamogga district administration, and Kuvempu Trust will hold Vishwamanava Day at Kuppali, the birthplace of poet Kuvempu, in Tirthahalli taluk on December 29. Kuvempu’s birth anniversary is celebrated as Vishwamanava Day.

The trust will bring out a new edition of Kuvempu’s Sri Ramayanadarshanam to mark the completion of 75 years since the work was first published in 1949. The copies will be available at ₹250 each on the day. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will launch the book and inaugurate the programme on the day.
Minister for School Education Madhu Bangarappa, Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi, legislators B.K. Sangameshwara, Beluru Gopalakrishna, Araga Jnanendra and representatives of the trust will participate.
The trust has also organized a three-day workshop for research scholars on Kuvempu literature, beginning on December 27. Dr. Ranganath Kantankunte, critic and writer, and G.T. Narendra Kumar, advocate, are coordinators of the workshop.

The Karnataka government has drafted a comprehensive master plan for the integrated development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple, the State’s highest revenue-generating temple managed by the Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department.
