Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner warns against cricket betting ahead of Champions Trophy and IPL season
Ahead of Champions Trophy which is scheduled to begin from February 19 and the coming Indian Premier League (IPL) season from the next month-end, Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi has issued stern warning to people not to involve in cricket betting, either offline or online. He said that special teams have been formed to crack the whip on such anti-social activities.
Interacting with the media during a press conference at the police conference hall on Tuesday, Mr. Bagchi said that he has spoken to all the police officials including the Inspectors and given them strict instructions over the possible cricket betting cases. He said that City Task Force (CTF) team will be working on such cases in coordination with the police to nab such gangs. He said that recently, they had busted a cricket betting racket and arrested about 12 persons. He also appealed to the people not to put their money in such activities and fall prey to betting gangs.
