Virtual world has effectively erased the barriers between music teachers and learners, say renowned Carnatic musicians Rajani and Gayatri
Noted Carnatic musicians Rajani and Gayatri emphasised on the transformative impact of social media and online learning platforms of Indian classical music during the ‘Change Makers’ programme organised by the GITAM Deemed to be University here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, the renowned duo noted that the virtual world has effectively erased the barriers between teachers and learners, making music education more accessible. They acknowledged that change is inevitable but stressed the importance of preserving the roots of Indian classical music.
Highlighting the need for evolving teaching methodologies, Rajani and Gayatri underscored that attracting the present-day generation requires innovative approaches. With a rich legacy of over 35 years in the field, they shared their disciplined practice regimen, emphasising the significance of attending concerts with utmost devotion and thorough preparation.
Rajani and Gayatri also appreciated GITAM Deemed to be University for integrating Performing Arts into its curriculum, particularly under the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS), which provides students with an opportunity to explore and embrace classical music.
GITAM Vice-Chancellor Eroll Desouza felicitated the distinguished musicians and commended their dedicated efforts in transforming and promoting Carnatic music across the country.
