U.P. Cabinet meets at Maha Kumbh Mela to boost growth with aerospace policies, expressway projects, and unity celebrations.
Uttar Pradesh’s Cabinet on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) met in the Maha Kumbh Mela area in Prayagraj, making several key decisions regarding development projects and policy changes aimed at boosting the State’s growth. The Cabinet decided to revamp aerospace and defence policies by including new incentives to attract significiant investments into the sector. The U.P. Cabinet also approved major connectivity projects, including granting in-principle approval for the 320-kilometre-long Vindhya Expressway and the 100 kilometre-long Vindhya-Purvanchal Link Expressway.
“These expressways will drive the region’s social and economic development, complementing the State’s existing connectivity network across Paschimanchal, Madhyanchal, Purvanchal, and Bundelkhand,” Mr. Adityanath said.
“A new 320 km expressway will be built, linking Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Sonbhadra. Starting from the Ganga Expressway in Prayagraj and ending at NH 39 in Sonbhadra, it will provide direct connectivity between the Ganga and Vindhya Expressways, while enhancing links to neighbouring States like Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh,” a statement by U.P. Government, after the Cabinet meeting, reads.
Later, Mr. Adityanath, along with his Cabinet colleagues, took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam. “Mahakumbh-2025, the festival of unity, equality and harmony; a festival of Indianness and humanity. Today in Prayagraj, I had the privilege of taking a holy bath in the sacred Triveni Sangam with my Cabinet members. May Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna and Maa Saraswati bring welfare to all,” the U.P. CM wrote on X.
In the meeting, the State government, under Mr. Adityanath’s leadership, reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safe and prosperous Uttar Pradesh.
Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav reacted sharply to the Cabinet meeting in Maha Kumbh, stating it is not an appropriate venue for politics activities. “Kumbh and Prayagraj are not places where political programmes and decisions should be taken. By holding a Cabinet meeting at Kumbh, they want to send a political message,” Mr. Yadav said.
